So Sarah says she wanted to start her own tag today. Anyway, all you have to do is write down five intriguing pieces of trivia or factoids. Easy eh? So here's my stuff for today and whomever reads this, I hereby tag YOU.
1. Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour. (Do not try this at home ..maybe at work) = hey i've been doing this all day today. oughta be set for work out haha
2. There are 293 ways to make change for a dollar. (i'll have to test and see now)
3. The characters Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street were named after Bert the cop and Ernie the taxi driver in Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life." Go Bert & Ernie!
4. The first CD pressed in the US was Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA."
5. Some lions mate over 50 times a day.
6. If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it) - so stop the yelling

Hero for a day?
Well, today was first day of extended hours in the park. Started out working w/ "newbie" ranger that answered questions etc and then one group came over and talked w/ me after. They told me where they were planning on hiking so I made it a point to stress "bear safety" (making lots of noise etc as there's plenty of blind corners on this particular trail and numerous griz sightings - most recently a charge a few weeks ago) I also told them that for that particular trail it'd be stupid to not have bear spray with them. So they decided $45 was a pretty cheap insurance policy and I gave them Bear Spray 101. Couple hours later they come in the visitor center all hyped up saying "thank you thank you thank you thank you.............would you mind taking a picture with us please....you told us to get that bear spray this morning and we just had a run-in on the trail and had to use it, so we want a picture to take home of our lifesaver" So I grabbed my can in the back room so they had a nice one to pose with for photo op. AWWWWWWW! I'm somebody's hero.

Awwww....
So forgot to put this last weekend when I got home from work, so here it is now. On Sunday I think it was a lady came in and was commenting on how great of a hike Avalanche was and thanking me for sending her. Then continued on w/ what made it an even "neater" experience for her. Apparently right as she got to the end of the trail where it opens up to the lake, a large family was there doing the picture thing. Then as individual families/couples etc. Well, the last couple, instead of saying cheese on the count of three, he dropped to knee and proposed instead. Kudos from me for awesome location. Ecstatic bride-to-be was showing everyone on the trail her ring lol.
And news this week......seeing people's faces when they come rushing into the VC to report a bear sighting is awesome. And when it's people that were charged their faces are priceless (although I'd probably have a priceless face, colored pants, and stink haha) Two ladies volunteering to do a loon count at backcountry lakes found themselves between mama griz and yearling. Not a good place to find yourself.

Book stuff...
So I was told by my one and only reader that I was slacking in the update department so I should do a lil one on books I've read........which isn't many as of yet.
First will be the classic, The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. I'm sure most have already read this, if you haven't, do it. I don't think I even read one full book all through school (maybe but not recalling at the moment) and this one was the one that got me to WANT to read.
Next up, Bookends by Jane Green. I'm a HUGE fan of Brit humor as you'll be able to tell w/ my next two I put down. This I read a while back, can't remember all the details so looks like a darn, gotta read again...........
#3 shall be...........Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. Yet another British author. Story of a gal in her 20s w/ amnesia. Can't remember her transformation from average jane to bombshell big-wig.
and last but not least.....Cocktails for Three by Madeleine Wickham (sophie kinsella, diff name). So same author, same humor. Grand story of friendships and the ups and downs that seem to come with it.
So there's a small breakdown until I get myself more smarter ;) haha. Can't quite get myself into real serious books as of yet. Like laughing too much to. Maybe at somepoint.......
