Paddling McDonald Creek

Put in at Lake McDonald boat launch and paddled creek to Quarter Circle, then walked up Middle Fork of Flathead to West Glacier rather than attempting to paddle upstream Oooo... DAM! Deer crossing creek at Oxbow The two of 'em played and splashed around a bit Merganser and babies.......so fun to sit and watch, the babies remind me of harlequins Nifty lil' dam I kept paddlin' over for kicks...

More tourist fun

Working depot last night, got into quite a chat with one visitor. He asked if it was to be called "Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park" all as one park now. So I explained that it's two different national parks, but they share a border so has now become a peace park etc., but it's still just GNP. To which he replies "or they just know that all the glaciers are melting so it's a way to change the name now and cover it up". Some just really crack me up. So I then broke down and gave him the "the park is named for the glacial FEATURES, not the glaciers themselves" scoop. Had a few others in the room that kinda chuckled a bit. I realize it's not an entirely stupid question, but just the conspiracy theory mentality was cracking me up.

4th of July Weekend

Fourth of July weekend spent playing on Lake Five and gorgeous Kintla Lake.

My favorite shot of the weekend, and probably one of my all-time favorites. Head of Kintla Lake.

Lupine & Indian Paintbrush

PERFECT sheet of glass

Time to head out

Ruffed Grouse

Nothing like a sunset on the water

"I hear the train a-comin', it's rollin' round the bend..."

"Put down the camera before ya get splashed"

Just livin' the good life

Stillwater and Moose

Spent the last weekend of June paddling Stillwater Lake (w/ Sarah and Al) and Moose Lake (w/ Al and dogs). And did a short hike at Moose too.

Osprey nest, zoom sucks, but not long before this there was an eagle in the next tree over harassing them

Hey Sarah!

Noisy ol' Loon...

Busy Beaver

Moose Lake and pond formed from avalanche/jam

Finally an ok-sized fish

Majority of hike was spent navigating avalanche debris

Stoppin for some fresh mountain water....note the .40 caliber "bear spray" haha

Only decent picture that turned out, nice view through the trees just couldn't get a good picture of it

After a long day of kayaking and hiking, poor Pilot was done....I love this shot.
